SEBASTOPOL, September 20. / TASS /. About 20 ships of the Black Sea Fleet have left their naval bases to conduct artillery and missile fire during exercises in the Black Sea, the fleet’s press office reported on Monday.
“About 20 surface ships and support ships of the Black Sea Fleet deployed at sea from their naval bases in Sevastopol and Novorossiysk to conduct joint exercises with missile and artillery fire. The warships deployed to naval training fields in accordance with a plan for the combat training measures of the Black Sea Fleet for the training year 2021, “the press office said in a statement.
The naval maneuvers brought together anti-missile and anti-submarine warships, submarines, the Fleet’s minesweeping forces, auxiliary and rescue ships, airplanes and helicopters from its troops of naval aviation and air defense. Unmanned aerial vehicles will visually check the forces engaged in the exercises, the statement said.
“At the initial stage, the sailors practiced the departure of warships from their naval bases and their passage through a cleared waterway, joint navigation and maneuvers in various formations of deployment in areas of intensive navigation”, indicated the Press office.
In their naval training firing ranges, the crews of the warships will fire artillery and missiles as part of all-arms tactical groups, organize a series of demining exercises, participate in a naval battle, and track down and eliminate a fictitious enemy submarine, discover and deliver a strike against a coastal command post and repel an attack by adversary air attack weapons, the statement said.
